Montana Camp Canceled
It is with deep regret I am announcing the cancellation of the Montana Spring poker camp. As many of you know I was forced to postpone the original date and change location to a different lodge due to the incompetence of the staff and constant changing of the management at the original location. I had high hopes for our new local, the White Fish Lodge, but they too were not up to the task.
I first met with their entire management staff about six months ago where I signed a contract, and left a deposit. I was assured they would be ready to go by May. I enquired about all the necessary permits and was told they didn?t have them at the time but that it would be no problem as poker was legal in the area, they had just never needed the permit.
I checked on the progress from time to time and was assured things were in the works, they just had to wait for a town hall meeting. I also had myMontana contact check into the situation and he informed me that the family that owned the lodge was extremely wealthy and powerful in the area.
To my dismay I was just informed the Lodge was unable to get the proper permits by this spring.I had the choice of postponing the camp, moving locals again (the one with room and a full gaming license was not on the lake and not what I promised) or canceling this camp altogether
Instead of postponing the camp again and run the risk of another fiasco, I?m just going to cancel the Montana camp. I have lost all confidence in the lodges in that area as well as anticipated problems I may have had with the Montana Gaming Control Board (even though I had applied and received permits to run tournaments in Montana).
If this were not enough Poker Super Stars is going to film during the exact same time as the Montana camp in Las Vegas. I?ve been in negotiations with Fox Sports to film in Montana and just received the answer Friday, which was no, it wasn?t in their budget. (I hate to miss that tourney as I have finished second, first and first in the last four)
I"m sorry for the delay in not returning phone calls but until I heard from Fox and had a definite answer from the Lodge I simply didn?t know how to respond to questions. At this point I?m simply going to refund all monies and go ahead with the Vegas camp which I will be able to control much better. I?m not announcing a date as of yet. I may wait for my Tavern to open or just hold it at a casino.
Once again I am sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this has caused. Everyone who has sent in a deposit will receive a full refund, a 10% discount on a future camp and a small conciliatory gift.
